May 2026: Spring, eventually
Good things come to those who wait—and wait, and wait...
This spring has been a stop-and-start of sun and snow. Just as it feels like winter is finally done, the shovel comes back out again. Writing has felt the same way—just as things would get going, something would pull us back.
But spring always comes. The snow always melts. And eventually, the work gets done.

Although we’re busy writing, a few things have made our days fuller than usual. We didn't mention it in our last email, but David's mother passed away at the end of March, and her funeral is in May. He's also finishing up the sale of his sister's condo, which means moving out the last of the furniture. Life doesn't pause for deadlines.
To counteract this, David's gone back to his old routine—cancelled the morning meetings, gone to a coffee shop at 7 am, and spent several hours getting words on the page.
It's working.
He's written a lot in the past few weeks, and the end is closer than it's been in a long time. He's running a spreadsheet to track it all—words written, percentage done, days remaining—and our current estimate puts the first draft done in early July.
Of course, a finished draft is just the beginning. As the pages come in, Angie needs to read and make notes. Once she’s done, we'll integrate everything and do a few more passes until it's right. After that comes editing, then production, and we're aiming to get the book into your hands by late fall or early winter. Think of it as a perfect Christmas gift.
In the meantime, we'll also be at the Cathedral Village Arts Festival Street Fair on Saturday, May 23, from 10 am to 6 pm on 13th Avenue in Regina. Hopefully the weather plays nice, but it wouldn't be a festival without some interesting weather to make it exciting.
Until then—and we suppose after—we're heads down and working. Thank you for your patience as we get this done.
Until next time,
Angie and David
